Castlemore Plan Large Glasgow Offices

The wraps have come off one of the largest speculative office developments planned in Glasgow for some time.
The £120 million project is situated at 301 St Vincent Street practically next door to Elphinstone Place. The design is by the Hugh Martin Partnership for developer Castlemore and will see a new 13 floor, 29,300 square metre office building constructed if realised. There will also be 200 undercroft car parking spaces provided.
Employing glass curtain walling, the scheme is divided into opposing wedge-shaped two wings set at differing angles that are separated by a central glass atrium - a popular choice for architects when it comes to mid-rise buildings with large floor-plates that need their mass breaking up.
The design is distinctive thanks to its sloping roofline and sharp termination that mimics the gradient of the site that building stands upon giving it an individual profile on the Glaswegian skyline and adding the illusion of height to what would otherwise be a squat block.
Puncturing the sides of the building will be a number of recessed terraces that will offer outdoor space to the occupants.
Castlemore are confident that they can have success with the scheme, and are planning to start construction speculatively should they secure planning permission.
